Range & Status
A small red and black wasp which is a cleptoparasite of the similar looking wasp Harpactus timidus which occurs in the same sparsely-vegetated sandy areas as its host. It is very scarce in most districts and considerarbly less frequent than its host. Whereas there are numerous older records for Cornwall, there is only a single post-1980 record from Church Cove, Gunwalloe (Lizard Peninsula) in 1991.
