Schoenoplectus x kuekenthalianus



Range & Status

S. x kuekenthalianus ( S. tabernaemontani x S. triqueter ) is believed to still occur on the Rivers Medway and the Arun (Stace, 1997).

Regional Distribution

Restricted to the River Tamar near Calstock (SX46). It was last recorded on the Cornish bank in 2003.

Habitat & Ecology

An estuarine plant of tidal mud.

Threats

The lack of Schoenoplectus triqueter may be a threat to the long-term existence of this hybrid.

Conservation

Most of the Cornwall side of the River Tamar bank near Calstock is unprotected.
