Range & Status
A pelagic species found on floating brown seaweed Sargassum spp., undersides of
ships, amongst barnacles Lepas spp., on floating timbers, ropes and buoys and under the tail of various turtle species. Between December 2006 and January 2007 in excess of 19 specimens were recorded around the Cornish coastline. More recently, 2008, four specimens were found on a log at Perranporth, one under the tail of a Loggerhead Turtle Caretta caretta stranded on the Cornish shoreline and 30 specimens embedded in foam on aircraft wreckage at Bude.
