Range & Status
Previously known as Balanus perforatus , this eastern Atlantic, warm-water species, has a distinctive south-western distribution in Britain. It is common in Cornwall and
Devon but becomes progressively rarer east to Sussex and north to
Pembrokeshire/the south Cardigan Bay. Elsewhere it extends south down into the Mediterranean and southward to West Africa (Gambia).
