On mossy bark, or more rarely rocks, in woodlands and on the coast in the western parts of Britain, extending along the south coast to the New Forest. Recorded from Dizzard Wood (Oak Quercus spp.) and on mossy serpentine boulders near Kynance Cove on the Lizard.
