Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Juncus compressus - Round-fruited Rush

In Cornwall this is a plant of moderately wet situations where conditions are less brackish than those required for J. gerardii . It is known from only two sites at present; along the Gannel, near Newquay (SW86A, 1980, L.J.Margetts), and in the Copperhouse Marshes near Hayle (SW53U, 1980, B.M.Sturdy). There are older records from more freshwater situations, a number of which are associated with the Fal estuary.
