Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Saponaria officinalis - Soapwort

This bright, pink-flowered, showy garden escape has noticeably extended its range over the past decade alongside roads, in verges and on hedges. The double-flowered form is frequent. Finds include Roseworthy Hill (SW63E, 1998, C.N.French), Tolgus, near Redruth (SW64X, 1997, C.N.French), Holywell Beach (SW75U, 1995, H.M.Meredith), St. Mawes Castle (SW83L, 1998, R.E.Lees), Gerrans (SW83S, 1998, M.Tempest), Par Beach (SX05R, 1998, I.J.Bennallick), Boscastle (SX09V, 1996, R.J.Murphy) and Efford Down (SS20D, 1998, M.Atkinson).
