Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Silybum marianum - Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle is a long standing introduction which now seems to be restricted to a few localities on the north coast of Cornwall. It can occur in some numbers at West Pentire (SW76Q, 1993, H.M.Meredith) and since 1980 has also been reported from Gurnard's Head (SW43J, 1982, K.Hearn), Phillack Towans (SW53U, 1987, D.J.Vickers), near Border-Hill Park (SW97J, 1990, D.Lord) and the Lundy Bay area (SW97P, 1991, R.W.David).
