Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Viola riviniana var. minor

The dwarf form of Common Dog-violet is thought to be an adaptation to exposed conditions or other such environmental constraints. It has been recorded from a disused tramway at Tresavean near Lanner (SW73J, 1986, R.J.Murphy), on a hedge at Sweetshouse near Lostwithiel (SX06V, 1989, R.J.Murphy) and on the dry hedges at Butney Corner, north of Ashill (SW64B, 1971, L.J.Margetts).
