Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Sorbus torminalis - Wild Service-tree

Wild Service-tree is very local and mainly found in East Cornwall. In West Cornwall it is found in the woodlands that cling to the sides of the Helford estuary, such as at Durgan (SW72T, 1993, C.N.French). In East Cornwall it is most frequent in old woodland and on roadside hedges a few miles to the south of Padstow and eastwards to south east Cornwall. It is also found in the north east such as at Marhamchurch (SS20G, 1993, D.G.G.Cann).
