Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Gentianella campestris - Field Gentian

Field Gentian has become very rare in Cornwall. It has disappeared from most of its known sites, but may still be seen in four places on the Lizard; two sites in fields near Hayle Kimbro Pool where it can occur in large numbers (SW61Y, 1997, P.A. Gainey) and two in short, wet heath on Gwendreath Common NNR (SW71J, 1997, P.A. Gainey). It may also be seen on Kit Hill (SX37Q, 1989, R.M. Belringer).
