Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Hyoscyamus niger - Henbane

Henbane is predominantly a coastal rarity that has disappeared from the majority of its former stations. It persists in Tintagel (SX08P, 1991, A.C. Thomas), in the sand dunes north of Hayle (SW53U, 1983, J.K. Williams), and in the Holywell area (SW75U, 1197, H.M. Meredith). Elsewhere it is known from a few scattered sites and from the Isles of Scilly.
