Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Sonchus arvensis - Perennial Sow-thistle

i> Sonchus arvensis may be found in a wide range of habitats. It grows on road verges, waste ground, cliffs and dunes. It can be particularly frequent for a while in arable fields when these are first put into ' set-aside' . It is very frequent around the coast, growing at the base of cliffs around flush sites, and on shingle and storm beaches. It is locally common on the Isles of Scilly.
