Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Solanum lycopersicum - Tomato

Tomato plants appear as a casual in a wide number of places, such as Council tips, flower beds, as at Perranporth (SW75M, 1997) and also along a pavement in Redruth (SW64V, 1990). Seed can be washed ashore with sewage and this results in plants along the strandline, as at Mounts Bay (SW43V, 1993) where, remarkably, the plants succeeded in producing fruit.
