Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Populus x jackii - Balm-of-Gilead

Balm-of-Gilead has only recently been discovered growing in Cornwall. It was reported (as P. gileadensis) on Toll Island, St. Mary's in 1952 (SV91F, J.D.Grose) and can be found at Tregony (SW94H, 1997, M.Atkinson), Brynn Barton (SW96Q, 1996, I.J.Bennallick) and at Tregerry (SX28E, 1996, M.Atkinson) in north east Cornwall.
