Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Anchusa arvensis - Bugloss

Rather rare, Bugloss may be found on light, sandy soils as at Phillack (SW53U, 1990, N.D.Wood) and Gear Sands (SW75S, 1983, E.Jackson) or in arable fields, as at West Pentire Farm (SW76Q, 1993, H.M.Meredith) and on Forrabury Stitches, near Boscastle (SX09V, 1991, R.J.Murphy). It has also been reported from Boscregan Farm (SW32P, 1991, M.Cuddy), the Clowance estate (SW63H, 1990, R.J.Murphy), an arable field at Tehidy (SW64G, 1991, C.N.French), near Holywell (SW75U, 1996, H.M.Meredith), Rushy Green (SW76V, 1990, N.D.Wood), Newquay (SW86B, 1994, H.M.Meredith), Harlyn Bay (SW87S, 1998, H.M.Meredith), the St. Enodoc area (SW97I, 1991, R.W.David), Pennygillam (SX38G, 1995, M.Atkinson), Southdown Quarry (SX45G, 1990, S.C.Madge) and is a common plant on the Isles of Scilly.
