Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Dactylorhiza praetermissa var. junialis - Leopard Marsh Orchid

This orchid, with ring-shaped markings on its leaves and purple loops on the labellum of the flowers, is rare in Cornwall. It has been seen in marshy fields near Downhill (SW86U, 1996, H.Miles), on an orchid-rich bank by the B3301 west of Hayle (SW53N, 1998, C.Neil) but is most abundant in Mount field by Penhale Sands (SW75Y, 1998, E.C.M.Haes).
