Cornish Red Data (2009)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Cornish Red Data Book (2009). The map on this web page depicts the organisms distribution and shows the records made pre-2000 and those made since.

Ciliata septentrionalis - Northern Rockling

Habitat & Distribution

This little-known rockling species seems to prefer muddy or sandy substrata in depths of 20-250m, although it is very occasionally caught at the extreme low water mark. It is distributed around the whole coastline of the British Isles and north to Scandinavia and Iceland. Predominantly a boreal species with just one or two records for Cornwall.
