Myrionema papillosum



Range & Status

An epiphytic seaweed forming small discs on Laminaria saccharina blades in lower

intertidal pools and in the subtidal zone to 5m depth of water. A rarely recorded summer annual with difficulties in identification, requiring microscopic examination to distinguish it from the closely related M. strangulans . There are very few British records including one from Falmouth Harbour. Formerly only recorded from the Dorset coast.
