Delphacodes capnodes - A planthopper



Range & Status

This is predominantly a southern species in Britain.

Regional Distribution

It has been recorded from west Cornwall, at Marazion pre-1960, and at Golgotham, Lizard in 1981.

Habitat & Ecology

It occurs in peatlands, especially lowland bogs, possibly feeding on Common Cottongrass Eriophorum angustifolium (which is widespread in the wet heaths of Cornwall).

Threats

Drainage of wetlands.

Conservation

The Lizard site is within the NNR.
