Lophosiphonia reptabunda



Range & Status

A small species with branched polysiphonous axes. Intertidal on sandy or muddy shores where it is found on the bedrock, pebbles and holdfasts of Bladder wrack Fucus vesiculosus on shaded rock faces in the intertidal zone, also in muddier places about extreme low water, at sheltered to extremely sheltered sites. Extremely rare in Britain and believed to be restricted to the south and south-western coasts of England (Cornwall, Devon and Dorset) and Ireland.
