Range & Status

Diptera: Tephritidae; locally common, Yorkshire southwards, may be under-recorded.

Regional Distribution

Three records from two 10km squares in VC1: SW54 1926 and 1934; SW43 1990.

Habitat & Ecology

Associated species: Hawkweeds Hieracium spp. and Crepis spp. The greyish larvae live in swollen flower buds which fail to open.
