Range & Status

Native; found on the Isles of Scilly, the Channel Islands, the western coasts of France and in the Mediterranean.

Regional Distribution

Locally abundant most years on Bryher (SV81) in the Isles of Scilly, with small colonies on Tresco (SV81) and Te\'e4n (SV91), (formerly also St. Martin' s, SV91).

Habitat & Ecology

A tiny annual of coastal sand-dunes and sandy fields, especially on disturbed ground. In 2008 the population on Bryher was decimated by storm damage, but it is hoped it will recover from buried seed.

Threats

Vulnerable to storm surges, changes in management and being submerged under dense vegetation.

Conservation

The main sites are in SSSI.
