The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Cornish Red Data Book (2009). The map on this web page depicts the organisms distribution and shows the records made pre-2000 and those made since.
Range & Status
Native; found on the Isles of Scilly, the Channel Islands, the western coasts of France and in the Mediterranean.
Locally abundant most years on Bryher (SV81) in the Isles of Scilly, with small colonies on Tresco (SV81) and Te\'e4n (SV91), (formerly also St. Martin' s, SV91).
Habitat & Ecology
A tiny annual of coastal sand-dunes and sandy fields, especially on disturbed ground. In 2008 the population on Bryher was decimated by storm damage, but it is hoped it will recover from buried seed.
Vulnerable to storm surges, changes in management and being submerged under dense vegetation.
The main sites are in SSSI.
