Diazona violacea



Range & Status

Typically a deep water species with a preference for clear offshore water on the west

and south coasts of Britain. It occurs on ledges and boulders in current-swept areas in 20-200m depth of water. Quite a common species in western Scotland but scarcer in the south. There are two older records for mainland Cornwall and seven recent records from the Isles of Scilly.
