Margarinotus obscurus - A hister beetle



Range & Status

Formerly widely distributed in England, but has become very scarce and not seen since 1947.

Regional Distribution

Found near Saltash (Clark, 1906) and fairly commonly at Lamorna in 1923 by R.T.

Bannister.

Habitat & Ecology

A dung-breeding beetle of coastal sand-hills. Neither Cornish record is compatible with the known habitat requirements for this species and both merit re-examination should collected specimens be available.
