Pterosiphonia ardreana



Range & Status

Epilithic on sandy bedrock and boulders amongst Rhodochorton floridulum in lower shore pools and on sand scoured vertical and horizontal bedrock from about 1m above Extreme Low Water to about 20m depth. Also found on crustose coralline algae and amongst Alaria esculenta plants on extremely wave-exposed sites. A rare, southern species know from relatively few sites, including north Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and the west coast of Ireland.
