Carex punctata - Dotted Sedge



Range & Status

Native. Suboceanic Southern-temperate plant. Coastal sites in southern and western

Ireland, south-west Scotland, western Wales and Cornwall, Devon and the Hampshire coast, and the Channel Islands.

Regional Distribution

Scattered at intervals in suitable sites along Cornwall' s south coast and one site west of Boscastle in north Cornwall (SX09).

Habitat & Ecology

Very localised in cliff-flushes, especially in the head where the cliff meets the wave-cut platform.

Threats

Coastal erosion.

Conservation

Most sites are within SSSI, and are owned or managed by the National Trust.
