Cornish Red Data (2009)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Cornish Red Data Book (2009). The map on this web page depicts the organisms distribution and shows the records made pre-2000 and those made since.

Janthina exigua - Ridged Violet Sea-snail

Range & Status

This species is also holopelagic and has the same range as the other janthinids, however, it is very much more rarely stranded on British and Irish coasts. Only about nine specimens have been recorded from Cornish beaches, the most recent from Perranporth in 1994.
