Lepas anserifera - Goose Barnacle



Range & Status

Very similar to the much more commonly stranded species Lepas pectinata . This pelagic species, cosmopolitan in warmer seas. It is only very rarely found, attached to floating objects, which have been blown onto the Cornish shoreline after prolonged periods of westerly and south-westerly winds. The most recent record is from Perranporth in 2008.
