Range & Status
Native. European Temperate, with a continental distribution in western Europe; also in Central and Eastern Asia. Found in southern Britain particularly in south Wales and the New Forest, and scattered elsewhere.
Regional Distribution
Inland on The Lizard on Goonhilly Downs (SW71) and at Carbis Bay (SW53), St. Agnes (SW75) and Cligga Head (SW75) on the north coast.
Habitat & Ecology
Short-turf grassland on cliff-tops and around a few rock outcrops in heathland on The
Lizard.
Threats
Reduced grazing on the heathland sites could impact the population.
Conservation
The Lizard sites are managed by Natural England, and the north coast sites have some protection.
